They’ve done witches and ghosts, serial killers and Nazis, nuns and Voodoo queens, satanic possessions and alien abductions – and that’s only in three seasons. So just what does American Horror Story have planned for us in season four? Well, despite creator Ryan Murphy’s attempts to keep it quiet, American Horror Story: Coven writer Douglas Petrie let it slip on a recent episode of the Nerdist Writers Panel podcast: it’s going to take place at a carnival.
Since Murphy has already said the new season will be set in the 1950s and that Jessica Lange is “practicing her German accent,” who knows what kind of carnival it will be. I guess…a German one? AHS star Sarah Paulson also revealed that she’s already working on “a special skill” for season four – perhaps a contortionist or a trapeze artist? As the details come rolling in, it sounds like this season will be as crazy as ever. Murphy’s looking to continue the lighter, more humorous tone of Coven, but let me be the first to say it: there is nothing funny about clowns. I CANNOT HANDLE CLOWNS. And you just know that a horror-filled carnival is going to be full of clowns. Meep. I am never going to sleep again.
