Drop Everything And Read JK Rowling’s New Harry Potter Story

Do you miss Harry Potter as much as I do? Probably. Well, you might already know that author JK Rowling has been writing on the site Pottermore for a while now, keeping fans up to date on the 2014 Quidditch World Cup. Naturally.

Her latest story, “Dumbledore’s Army Reunites at Quidditch World Cup Final,” details a reunion of our favorite characters, including Harry Potter himself, Ron, Hermione and more. Written from the perspective of fictional journalist Rita Skeeter (who is like, what, 80 years old now?) she gives us the scoop on 34-year-old Harry and many of his friends and family.

Some highlights:

  • Harry has a new scar, probably from his work as an Auror
  • Ron worked with Harry at the Ministry for a couple of years before joining George to run Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes
  • Hermione, on the other hand, has a thriving Ministry career
  • Neville Longbottom is still the Herbology professor at Hogwarts, but he has not left his wife for Luna Lovegood, to my ultimate dismay
  • Now-teenage Teddy Lupin (“a lanky half-werewolf with bright blue hair”) was caught “snogging” Victoire Weasley, daughter of Bill and Fleur

Now, I only have a few questions: where is the fan fiction about this new material and can I read it right now? Thanks.

You can read Rowling’s entire story at Pottermore, which requires registration. It’s also currently posted in its entirety at TODAY.com, but I can’t say how long it will be up. Enjoy, Potterheads!
