If you’re a major spoiler-phobe, you might want to look the other way because this is some exciting, but spoileriffic, news about Arrow season three. After two full seasons with almost no personal history, everyone’s favorite hacker will finally get her own origin story. The fifth episode of season three, entitled “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak” will give us, well, the secret origin of Felicity Smoak. It’s not the best title, but I’ll take it.

The Felicity-centric episode was originally announced at Comic Con earlier this summer, but under the title “Oracle.” This got fans buzzing about a possible secret identity, but it seems like the producers aren’t going in that direction after all. Or are they? I wouldn’t rule anything out – but either way, I’m thrilled that we’ll be learning more about Felicity, her family and where she comes from. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly:

“We’ve established in the past that mom is a cocktail waitress in Vegas…she and Felicity are two very different people. [The episode] really deals with the differences between these two women and how much of their relationship is a struggle as a result. It’s a real challenge for these two people to find some common ground.”

We won’t get all the answers, though. Guggenheim said that the identity of Felicity’s father will be left as a question mark: “The mystery of who Felicity’s dad is probably gets extended more than it gets answered.” Does that mean she could be related to a certain commissioner after all? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
