Things I’m Loving Lately: Skincare, Subscriptions & Dealing With Cold Weather

I’ve always loved people’s “Things I’m Loving” posts, whether it’s in a blog or on YouTube. It’s fun to see what other people like and it’s a great way to learn about cool products. I’ll probably make posts like this every so often, and it will likely include a mixed bag, anything from beauty to food to a movie I liked.

Please note: I know bloggers usually do like, a professional photo shoot with symmetrically placed products, beautifully splayed out on marble tile, surrounded by peonies and sprigs of lavender and shit, but…just a heads up, this isn’t that kind of blog. I don’t even own a camera.

Right now, I want just to talk about some subscriptions I’ve been enjoying, some stuff I’ve been using to deal with the cold weather, plus some additional randoms because, hey, why not?

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s been hella cold out lately (unless you live in like, Australia, in which case, nevermind!) As a Floridian, anything below 70°F makes my lips start to crack and peel. Since it’s been actually cold here recently, my dry lips are worse than ever. Even using tried and true Aquaphor wasn’t helping. Enter Laneige lip mask. This stuff is thick–to the point of feeling pretty heavy–but it tastes like candy and it’s healed my lips completely. I put it on before I go to sleep. Bonus, it’s pretty affordable, at least compared to other lip masks.

Herbivore Botanicals Lapis Facial Oil – Speaking of affordable, this stuff…isn’t. At all. But if you’re willing to splurge, I am telling you that it’s made of magic. When my skin is freaking out, whether it’s dry, getting weird bumps or redness, or a just bad breakout, a couple drops in my nightly skincare routine soothes it all away. And the bottle is so pretty! The price is ridonk, but at least you only need a few drops at a time. You can probably get a free sample at Sephora if you want to try before buying.

Le Tote – You know what I love? Getting new clothes. You know what I loathe more than almost anything? Going to a store and trying on clothes. It’s the worst. Le Tote is one of those monthly clothing subscriptions. There are a lot of them out there, but what I love about Le Tote is that you can get as many boxes as you want every month. You get a new one every time you send one back! Plus, you can keep any items you like for a discounted price, and you don’t have to do any laundry.  It’s a fun way to try out new styles with no commitment, and especially convenient for work attire. I have a code that gives you a free box, if you want to use it. I don’t get any money unless you subscribe and you can always cancel if it’s not your thing.

Care/of Vitamins – Taking vitamins, am I right? Pain in the ass. Care/of is a monthly vitamin subscription that sends you personalized packets every month. This particular subscription appeals to me because 1) I’m lazy, and 2) I hate buying a bunch of different supplements and having all those clunky pill bottles everywhere. Care/of gives you recommendations based on a short quiz, or you can customize your packet. I’m not entirely convinced that it’s cheaper than buying vitamins individually, but the convenience factor is a huge plus.

Random other things I’m enjoying

Good Behavior – This is my current “watch on the treadmill” TV show. It’s starring Lady Mary (okay, Michelle Dockery) and Juan Diego Botto, who I’d never heard of but boy, is he pretty. Randomly, it’s on TNT but there are explicit versions of every episode available online. It’s got sexy hit men and con artists and it’s compelling enough to make me forget how much I hate walking.

Plant Apothecary Super Soak Organic Healing Bath – This bath soak is perfect for making your sore muscles feel better. I try and use it in the bath a couple times every week. The smell is nice, but not too fragrant, and it doesn’t leave a disgusting ring in your bathtub (which totally defeats the purpose of a relaxing soak because then you have to scrub your bathtub, you know? Ugh, pet peeve!). It’s a wee bit pricey, but it lasts.

What things are you enjoying lately? I’d love to hear about your recent faves as well.
