It’s terribly hard to eat healthy–and I don’t just mean low-calorie, but organic, whole foods without a ton of preservatives–when you hate to cook. Trust me, I know. I’ve been slowly trying to cut out processed food from my diet, but I absolutely loathe cooking. It’s hard times, guys. But luckily, I’ve found a few things that make it easy for me to enjoy whole foods without all the work.
GoAvo Spread–You know what I love? Avocados. You know what I hate? Buying avocados and then they go bad before you can eat them all and then you throw away all the avocados and you’re sad and you have no more avocados. That’s why I was so pleased to find GoAvo Spread. This “mayonnaise replacement” spread isn’t fully organic, but it’s preservative-free, gluten-free and vegan. And it’s good! I like it on toast with a little bit of tomato and egg, if I’m feeling fancy. I have only tried the basil flavor, but it also comes in original and jalapeño.
Mann’s Nourish Bowls–These are a lazy girl’s dream. These bowls contain all kinds of superfoods and good for you stuff like kale, sweet potatoes, quinoa, kohlrabi, Brussels sprouts, and more. They take 3-4 minutes to microwave and another minute to mix together and you’ve got a whole meal full of fresh vegetables. My fave is the southwest chipotle bowl, which has kale, sweet potato, black beans, cauliflower, and corn salsa. They’re a little hard to find, but I have them at my local Target.
Trader Joe’s Black Bean Rotini–Black bean pasta you say? Yes I do. I mentioned this on Instagram, but this “pasta” is good. Like, really good. I’m very Italian and thus very, very snobby about pasta and pasta substitutes, and I honestly like this stuff a lot.
Rubbermaid Brilliance Salad Lunch Container–Okay, this technically isn’t food, but it’s food adjacent. This salad container has made meal prep so easy for me. It has different compartments for perishables like chicken or beans, plus a tiny round compartment for dressing. You mix it all together and bam, a non-boring salad without everything getting all soggy.
